(2011 Archive) Workshops

Feedback from a regular FRLP workshop participant:

"I've found them to be great resources for learning and understanding what is
involved in being a researcher at the ANU"

During 2011 we provided a variety of face-to-face activities aimed at expanding the learning from the online modules, while also exploring new areas of interest as well as the interlinking of information in several online modules.  The primary aim was to broaden one's understanding of research practice and structure at ANU.

Workshops were also designed to provide an opportunity for researchers to learn from and pose questions to research and administrative leaders at ANU, including those who are known for their holistic and innovative approaches to the research enterprise. (See list of workshop presenters.)

The workshops can also be attended independent of completing the online modules, although you will benefit significantly if you are familiar with knowledge contained in the online modules.  Please note that the workshops will not review information from the online modules or unpack topics/theory already covered in depth in the online modules.

Workshop formats and a list of workshops offered in 2011 can be found at workshop format and the workshop calendar contains workshop descriptions and presenters.

The 2011 FRLP workshops were facilitated by Charles Tambiah (FRLP Program Convener and ARC Researcher).

Suitability

The FRLP workshops will be beneficial to academics/researchers and senior research managers at the ANU, including advanced PhD students and those who have submitted their theses for examination and are awaiting final submission.  However the workshop content will have a degree of "assumed knowledge" about research and researcher practice, and will therefore address issues familiar to more experienced researchers and practitioners.  Some workshops were designed to target a specific researcher group at the ANU, and this suitability will be clearly identified on the workshop's description page.

Cost

In 2011 the FRLP workshops were provided to academics/researchers, research managers and advanced PhD students at no cost.
